What is a Hiab crane truck?
A Hiab is a truck with its own crane for lifting and transporting heavy goods. It’s a word that has become commonplace in the haulage industry when referring to a lorry-mounted crane or lorry loader. These vehicles are made up of a truck and crane combined in one vehicle and help to load and unload trucks by using the vehicle engine to power the hydraulics of the crane. Smart hey?!
What is a Hiab used for?
They are used to move heavy items like shipping containers, tiny homes, or construction materials like pipes or flat pack houses. We use the crane in combination with our truck and trailer to ship raw material like a load of timber, live trees, bags of sand etc.
We also shift smaller things with a Hiab crane truck like spa pools, and pallets of products right up to larger things like cabins which we can transport on our truck and trailer, that if it’s too long for our truck deck.
How much would it cost to hire a Hiab?
Each item and its location will be different so we cost out the job each time and provide you with a no obligation quote. As a rule of thumb, it is usually on an hourly rate.
