Shipping containers

Buying and moving shipping containers in New Zealand

Shipping containers have become increasingly popular to be used for anything from additional storage to an additional room and could just be the solution to all your problems. But what do you need to know before you buy one:

  • Measure your space and then work out what kind of container you need. For example. A normal 20ft shipping container with doors at the end or side opener or tri door. Yes, there is such a thing!
  • Make sure you ask about or check the container’s structural soundness.
  • Check if the container is watertight: close the doors to see if any light is getting in.
  • Make sure the doors and hinges are in good condition.
  • Make sure the locking door handles function freely.
  • Check for corrosion under the door seals.

We do all this for you, but it’s always good to know for yourself!

Transporting shipping containers in New Zealand

You may have just bought a shipping container or you may need a shipping container shifted. Whatever the reason we can help you cart it, lift it and shift it. A few things to consider before we shift your container are:

  • Make sure your pickup point & delivery drop-off area is clear and able to be accessed by a truck.
  • Make sure your gate access is wide enough.
  • Clear any overhanging trees.
  • Do a walk through to make sure you have no low powerlines.
  • To make it easy, send us photos of the delivery point to help us plan ahead.

What is the cost to deliver or move a shipping container?

It is important to consider how far you are moving your container. Are you moving the container across your yard or across the New Zealand? No matter how far the move, it is good to have professionals do the job. The cost of life or equipment on a DIY job just isn’t worth it.

Can I put a shipping container on my land?
